The Lions Club of the Upper Kiewa Valley, Inc. was formed in 1964 and has since that time worked tirelessly for the betterment of the local community and also for individuals and families which may experience a crisis in their lives requiring speedy and practical assistance.

The Lions' motto is "We Serve" and all members, past and present, hold this as their ideal.

  • Current projects include restoration works at the Arboretum near Bogong Village, and beautification and maintenance works in local recreation areas.
  • The Mt. Beauty Carols by Candlelight held just before Christmas in a lovely parkland setting is a highlight of the festive season.
  • Each year on the March holiday weekend, the Lions conduct a Conquestathon - an opportunity for the fit and not so fit to walk up Mt. Bogong, which is the highest mountain in Victoria. Certificates are presented to those who finish the course. The view of the High Country and the Alps from the top of Mt. Bogong is spectacular. Go and see for yourself.
  • For the golfers there is the opportunity to support the Lions at the annual Golf Day in November which is a joint effort with the local Police.
  • This year, the Club hopes to hold a special Melbourne Cup Eve function on Monday 6th November in conjunction with other local service Clubs.
